New Minister moves to improve FG, labour relationship

Published by

The newly appointed Minister of Labour and Employment, Muhammadu Dingyadi, has expressed commitment to improving relations between workers, employers, and the government, and ensure issues that lead to strike are diffused on time.

Dingyadi made the commitment on Tuesday in Abuja, during his official assumption of office at the ministry.

“I’m here to collaborate with you to propel this ministry forward,” he assured. “With your support and cooperation, I believe we can tackle the challenges ahead.”

The Minister outlined his vision for a peaceful, productive working environment across Nigeria. “Our main objective is to foster harmony among workers, labour unions, government agencies, and private organizations,” he said. “We will work to maintain peace in every corner of the country.”

He emphasized the need to engage all parties in a transparent manner. “It’s crucial to listen to every labour organization and address all pending issues,” Dingyadi added. “Yes, there have been some ‘soft threats’ of strike, but we’ll address them to ensure the peace we need.”

Dingyadi appealed to ministry staff and management for their cooperation, stressing that their support is vital for resolving issues and promoting the welfare of Nigerian workers. “We have the capacity and determination. President Tinubu is committed to making every worker happy.”

The Minister called on all ministry personnel to remain disciplined, punctual, and dedicated to achieving their set objectives. “These goals aren’t too difficult. You’ve done it before, and we’ll do it again with God’s help,” he declared.

He also lauded the Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Mrs. Nkeiruka Onyejeocha, for her dedication to Nigeria’s workforce.

In response, Onyejeocha congratulated Dingyadi and promised her cooperation.

“Together, we’ll bring the President’s Renewed Hope Agenda to life,” she said. “This ministry will go beyond reconciliation to prioritize employment, productivity, and empowerment.”
