New Kwara CP pledges to partner vigilante in fighting crime

Published by

The new commissioner of Police in Kwara state, Mr Amienbo Tuesday Assayomo, has said that he would work with vigilante and other non-state actors, to leverage community policing principles in combating crimes in the state.

Speaking with journalists during his maiden press intersection, Mr Assayomo said that he would make the state uncomfortable, especially for kidnappers, cultists, cybercriminals and all other forms of vices and anti-social behaviours.

He, thus, warned criminals to pack their bags and relocate from the state “or else they will have themselves to blame”.

The police boss also said that he was committed to wiping out the criminality of all shapes and modes.

“We want to assure the good people of Kwara State that they have no reason to fear, panic or be threatened, as the police under my control are aware and are sufficiently briefed on my zero tolerance for indiscipline and negligence on the part of any policeman found in any unprofessional like conduct.

“I wish to assure the good people of Kwara State of my determination to put into maximum use all strategies that will help me in achieving this onerous objective.

“I want to use this rare opportunity to solicit for the corporation of all and sundry, especially, the traditional institutions, Religious, Organizations, Civil Society organizations, student bodies, professional bodies and members of the security community in the State in achieving this objective so that the good people of Kwara State can sleep at night with their two eyes closed. While the Command under my watch will operate an open-door policy, we shall be simple but firm in our attitude towards good service delivery to our people.

“I am also using this medium to assure sister services of my readiness, as a team player to work hand in glove with them to consolidate the achievements recorded in the state before my arrival and to also make the state uncomfortable, especially for kidnappers, cultists, cybercriminals and all other forms of vices and anti-social behaviours, thus warning criminals to pack their bags and relocate from this State or else they will have themselves to blame.

“As a professional Police Officer, I want to inform members of the public that, we are here to perform our constitutional duties in line with our professional callings and as such ready to do just that.”
