New ADC are hired agents, not known to us, says ADC

AFRICAN Democratic Congress (ADC) said on Wednesday that those who claimed to have broken out of the party to form the new ADC are not known to it, describing them as “hired agents” acting out a script from their paymasters for reasons best known to them.

This was just as the party said it was determined to lead the country out of the socio-economic mess occasioned by the lack of direction on the part of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) government and could not be distracted, wondering how some elements could have claimed to break away from the party they never belonged to.

ADC said this in a statement issued by its Deputy National Publicity Secretary, Mrs Yemi Kolapo, copy of which was made available to the Tribune Online in Lagos.

“The attention of the African Democratic Congress has been drawn to a claim by some unknown group to have broken out of the ADC to form what they call the New ADC.

“The party wishes to point out that these elements are hired agents acting out a script from their paymasters for reasons best known to them.

“We are determined to lead Nigeria out of the socio-economic mess occasioned by the lack of direction on the part of the ruling government, and we can’t be distracted. How can you break away from a party that you don’t belong to?” ADC said, declaring, “Clearly, they are impostors working for the ruling party and for their pay.”

ADC, while insisting that those behind the new group were never their members, declared that ADC was fresh, clean, united and green and had no room for thugs, urging the so-called new ADC to go back to tell their paymasters that their movie was badly produced and, therefore, had been rejected by Nigerians.

“We want to make it very clear that whoever these people are, they have never been members of the ADC. Our party is fresh, our party is clean, our party is united, our party is green. We have no room for thugs. They should go back to tell their paymasters that their movie was badly produced and has been rejected by intelligent Nigerians,” the party said.

The party further wondered why the so-called breakaway group had chosen to announcement its decision on the same day ADC launched the Coalition for Electoral Integrity (C4e-Integrity) to entrench the superior power of the electorate in the efforts at rescuing Nigeria from the hands of economic saboteurs and also same day operatives of the Directorate of State Security Service (DSS) laid siege on the National Assembly, among others, thereby threatening the country’s democracy.

“The feedback we got from the programme that we had today, the launch of the C4e-Integrity, attended by patriotic Nigerians, is that we have, through the first attempt, ever, by a political party to spearhead the struggle to right the wrongs in Nigeria’s troubled electoral system, won the hearts of many Nigerians as the party to beat in the current political scene.

“It is not, therefore, surprising that enemies of democracy resorted to putting together some clowns to shoot a laughable film all in the name of discrediting a party that they have come to see as one to beat in the current political setting,” ADC affirmed.
