The petitioner, Mrs. Elizabeth Onipede, told the court that her husband, Adigun Onipede does not care for her and their three children.
“We did a traditionally wedding in Ilorin and later moved to Lagos where we had a court wedding.
“I have been the one taking care of my family since we got married. He has refused to work and he is always claiming that he has contracts with the local government.
“He would borrow money meant for our children’s upkeep and school fees from me and would refuse to pay back.
“He would also leave home for months without telling me of his whereabouts. If I call him, he would refuse to pick my call. When our last born was sick, he was nowhere to be found.
“He came back some months after and lied that he had some problems which he never disclosed.
“I have reported him to his family members on several occasions, but he has refused to change. Any time I report him to his parents, he would flare up, “she said.
The respondent was however not present in court.
The case was consequently adjourned till July 23.
