Nestle partners FCT on training of teachers

Nestle Nigeria Plc, in collaboration with the Federal Capital Territory administration has carried out a one-day health and nutrition empowerment workshop for primary school teachers in FCT.

Marketing and Public Affairs Manager, Nestle, Mrs. Gloria Nwabuike, said the workshop was part of the ongoing Nestle Healthy Kids Programme, adding that the training was aimed at making teachers  understand why they must encourage their pupils to eat healthy and  nutritious foods.

He told participants at the workshop in Abuja that the firm’s commitment was to inspire people to lead healthier lives by building, sharing and applying nutrition knowledge.

She stated that her company had a target of helping 50 million children to eat healthy and nutritious meals by the year 2030.

Nwabuike said, “The Nestle Healthy Kids Programme is aimed at empowering parents, care-givers and teachers to help promote healthy living in children by educating them on how best to stay healthy with respect to what they eat.

“Children must understand that they need to eat nutritious and diverse meals. They must learn to manage portions, choose water, play and be active, as well as maintain good hygiene habits.”
