The Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEPC) has reiterated its commitment to boosting Nigeria’s economy through non-oil exports, aiming to diversify the Nigerian economy and reduce reliance on oil revenue.
The Executive Director/CEO of NEPC, Mrs Nonye Ayeni, disclosed this during a training session organised for exporters in Ondo State to enhance their understanding of international trade regulations and risk management strategies.
Speaking on the theme: “Understanding International Regulations and Risk Management Strategies,” Ayeni highlighted the critical role of non-oil exports in boosting Nigeria’s economy.
She emphasised the need for continuous learning and the adoption of modern trade practices to remain competitive globally.
“Exporting is a multifaceted endeavour that requires ongoing learning, adequate resources, and the ability to respond to the dynamic demands of global trade,” Ayeni said.
She reaffirmed NEPC’s commitment to driving economic diversification through the growth of the non-oil export sector.

“Nigeria is blessed with immense export potential. However, these opportunities can only be fully harnessed through the right enabling environment and the adoption of modern trade techniques,” she added.
Also speaking, the Ondo State Coordinator of NEPC, Mrs Imagine Abe, said the training was essential to equip exporters with the knowledge needed to navigate international trade regulations.
“In today’s globalised economy, understanding trade regulations and risk management strategies is vital for business success. This training aims to provide practical solutions to challenges in international trade,” she said.
The President of the Ondo State Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines, and Agriculture (ONDOCCIMA), Pastor Henry Adesoye, urged manufacturers and exporters to remain resilient despite the challenges in Nigeria.
He encouraged businesses to produce quality goods that meet global standards, noting that African and international markets present significant opportunities.
“Let’s take advantage of our country’s potential. Many countries are waiting to source products from Nigeria. The quality and presentation of our goods are crucial to succeeding in international markets,” Adesoye said.
The training is part of NEPC’s ongoing efforts to strengthen the capacity of Nigerian exporters and promote sustainable growth in the non-oil sector.
