NEMA confirms receipt of UAE’s 50 tons humanitarian aids for disaster victims

The Federal Government on Sunday confirmed the receipt of 50 tons of humanitarian aid from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to support those affected by the recent floods.

The relief materials, delivered at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja, were handed over by UAE Ambassador Salem Alshamsi.

In his remarks, Ambassador Alshamsi noted that the relief effort, initiated by UAE President Sheikh Mohamed Al Nahyan, underscores the UAE’s ongoing commitment to assisting countries impacted by natural disasters.

Top officials from the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Office of the National Security Adviser received the items on behalf of the victims.

NEMA Director-General, Mrs. Zubaida Umar, expressed appreciation for the UAE’s gesture, stating that the multi-million relief materials would complement the Federal Government’s efforts to provide support and help flood victims recover from the disaster.

Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Ahmed Dunoma, also conveyed gratitude on behalf of President Bola Tinubu, acknowledging the strong ties between Nigeria and the UAE.
