Need to improve security in our communities

In recent years, our community has witnessed an increase in both physical and cyber security threats, making it evident that improving security measures is essential. Many local businesses and residents rely heavily on digital platforms for transactions, communication, and information sharing. However, insufficient cybersecurity awareness and outdated systems leave us vulnerable to cyberattacks such as data breaches, identity theft, and hacking.

To combat this, I suggest the implementation of regular security training programmes for both businesses and residents to promote better awareness about online threats and safe practices. Additionally, the use of advanced security technologies, such as encryption and multi-factor authentication, could significantly reduce the risk of data breaches.

On a broader level, local authorities should consider collaborating with IT professionals to assess the current security infrastructure and ensure that all systems are up-to-date and properly protected. Investing in cyber security measures will not only safeguard sensitive information but also foster a greater sense of security among the community.

I urge the government to prioritise this issue and take action to protect our communities from both physical and digital threats.
