Ndume congratulates Buhari on election tribunal verdict

SENATOR representing Borno South senatorial district, Mohammed Ali Ndume has congratulated President Muhammadu Buhari and the All Progressives Congress (APC) on the president’s victory on Wednesday at the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal.

The Justices in a unanimous judgment read by Justice Mohammed Garba dismissed the petition by the Peoples Democratic Party and its candidate, Atiku Abubakar, in its entirety, saying they failed to prove their case beyond a reasonable doubt.

Ndume in a statement he personally signed described the victory as deserving.

Senator Ndume said the tribunal verdict vindicated millions of Nigerians whom he noted had advised Atiku Abubakar not to go to court to challenge Buhari’s victory at the poll.

He further noted that the tribunal judgement did not just confirm the faith and support of millions who thronged to vote President Buhari for a second term in office, but a resounding victory for Nigeria’s democracy.

He said: “I heartfully congratulate President Muhammadu Buhari and the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the judgement of the tribunal which confirmed his re-election this year. I commend also former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for choosing the path of law and order to express their dissatisfaction with the election results.

“Yesterday’s judgement only vindicated millions of Nigerians who admonished Atiku not to go court to contest against your victory at the poll for reasons that your election was free and fair.

“On behalf of my family, Borno south senatorial district and indeed the entire good people of Borno State I congratulate you and urge you to remain steadfast in your big quest to take Nigeria to the next level.”
