Ndume
Ndume who is a member of the All Progressive Congress APC caucus in the Senate said he understands the fact that in politics nobody is likely to handover power just like that but whoever wants it must contest and take it.
The senator who had a parley with newsmen in Maiduguri over the weekend said he was excited that his people deprived of the governorship position for over forty years had arranged such a fine standing organisation to deliberate on leadership issues and ensure that power begins to change hands from 2019.
“I am indeed happy because I have been in the forefront of the advocacy because it is part of the process of natural justice which is a necessary ingredient for democracy to strive anywhere in the world.
“But we need unity to achieve this. Indeed without unity, you cannot achieve anything at all. What we have in southern Borno is a reflection of what happens to minorities in this country and all over the world. Go check the records, from southern Sudan to southern Chad, Cameroun all over.

“I have been harping on unity because of the way things have been going on in the south of Borno. And I hope this kind of summit will bring unity because it is needed to consolidate and move to the next level to take power.
“I believe we have men of capacity and calibre to take charge of the number one office in the state. Some have tried like Dibal former deputy Governor and Saidu Pinda, Ayuba Isa but we will not stop trying. We should get there with the right kind of mindset and the ability to work for it. I am one person who believes that you have to work for power at all cost so nobody should just sit down waiting for it to be dropped on his legs,” Said Ndume.
On the current spates of defection in the House of Assembly, the former majority leader went on “under normal circumstances if you defect without a cogent reason, there could be repercussions because it is indeed critical for you to have a good reason for defection not just doing it for the wrong reasons.
“The spates of defection is not new. It happens every season. There are many reasons people are giving for it. I am not a legal expert but I know that there must be reasons and repercussions for every action. That is why I think they have made delicate mistakes with the recent defections and mark my words time will tell on that. You can change the party but you cannot change the voter. They are always there waiting.
“Twelve people are contesting for the presidency from both parties so why the defection? Look I think it is only the guilty that are afraid because they are out to fight one man at all costs and that is President Mohammed Buhari but isha allau that will not happen.”
On the plots by the Senate to impeach it’s President he said he cannot deny that there may be moves because of the mistakes the man himself is making adding that if you live by the sword you die by it.
He, however, vowed to join ranks with colleagues to ensure that the Senate leadership is changed because they will never tolerate the minority party Lording it over the majority.
Ndume told newsmen in Maiduguri that removing the leadership was about the simplest thing to do in the chambers because they have the majority of like minds to do that and not only that but to stop any wrongs being processed by the pro-Saraki groups.
The lecturer turned politician admitted that the same backyard democratic process used to install his colleague Senate President and his deputy will be used to remove all of them afterwards “we put them in those days and we have the powers to remove them”
“What is going on in the Senate now is a manifestation of the myriad of problems that PDP brought on Nigerians and we should not expect President Buhari to solve everything overnight,” He concluded.
