All is not rosy within the camp of famous singer and rapper, Naira Marley. His residence, was, early Thursday morning raided by operatives of Nigeria Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) as they arrested two of his artiteste- Mohbad and Zinolesky for allegedly being in possession of drugs.
Naira Marley has been in the eye of the storm for more than three years as he’s currently being prosecuted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, (EFCC), on an 11-count charge bordering on conspiracy and credit card fraud.
While his trial is expected to resume this month after it was adjourned October last year, the rapper may be dealing with the trial of his artistes who were said to have been arrested for being in possession of drugs suspected to cannabis and molly. There are fears that his case may drag for another six months as this would mean that Marley may ensure more turbulent times.
While he may have won hearts of many Nigerian youths who follow his music and copy his lifestyle as some of them even pattern their lives after his, he has however not been lucky, at least not with his life outside music. He is constantly hitting the headlines for the wrong reasons, and from what was gathered, the Marlian President appears to be getting tired of being dragged.
On Thursday morning a video emerged on social media platforms where operatives of NDLEA were seen at his residence in Lagos to arrest Mohbad and Zinolesky for allegedly being in passion of hard drugs.
The video of their arrests had gone viral on social media platforms as many social media users condemned what was described by many as unprofessional conduct of operatives of the agency as they reportedly stormed residence of the singer without a valid warrant of arrest.
In the video, operatives of the agency were seen engaging the artistes and other occupants of the house in a physical fight as they demanded for their warrant of arrest before they could be allowed to go.
Worried by the treatment meted to his artistes, the self-acclaimed Marlian Nation President, who is currently out of the country took to his official Twitter handle to berate NDLEA and its operatives, warning that he would not fold his arms and watch his rappers ridiculed.
He vowed to return to Nigeria to stand for his brothers, saying “this injustice is unfair and this is beginning to look like a pattern. First it was me, now my artistes. Free Zinolesky, free Subomi, free Micee and dosky,” he fumed.
R, however, learnt on Friday that the agency released Mohbad and Zinolesky.
