AUTHORITIES of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Osun State Command have impounded 272 kg of cannabis sativa, otherwise known as Indian hemp, concealed in 19 sacks, just as one suspect was arrested in connection to the crime.
This was contained in a statement issued by the  Commandant of the agency in the state, Mr Samuel Egbeola, on Saturday,  copies of which were forwarded to newsmen in Osogbo, Osun State capital.
According to the statement, 272kg of Cannabis sativa in 19 sacks were seized on the 4th January at Ifewara town,  Atakunmosa East Local Government area  of the state.
While reiterating the NDLEA commitment to making Osun free of illegal drugs, Egbeola tasked the people of the state to collaborate with the agency by giving credible information about the illicit activities of anybody cultivating or dealing in hard drugs.
He stated, “the intelligence on this seizure was given by good people of the state and we solicit for more of this from them.
“Investigation has commenced. We are always ready to achieve our mandate of making the state a drug free state.”
