NDLEA destroys seven hectares of hemp farm, arrest three in Kogi

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has destroyed seven hectares of hemp farms and arrested three suspects in Kogi State.

Umar Yahuza, the Kogi Commander of NDLEA, announced this on Wednesday.

He stated that three hectares were discovered in Ikeja Forest, while the remaining four hectares were in Maikeke Village in Igalamela/Odolu Local Government Area.

During the operation, three suspects were arrested at Ikeja Forest, while the owner of the four hectares of hemp farm escaped.

Yahuza noted that the agency’s breakthrough was achieved within a week as part of its Operation Zero Tolerance to Illicit Drugs in the Kogi East axis.

“The discoveries followed intelligence reports received from individuals. Our officers raided the two farms on August 9 and August 15, respectively.

“We are actively pursuing the suspect who escaped to ensure their arrest and prosecution. Their activities in the communities are destroying the lives of citizens.

“NDLEA is leaving nothing to chance in the fight against drug abuse and trafficking in the state.

“We plan to search every nook and cranny of Kogi to ensure that traffickers and dealers of hard drugs are arrested and brought to justice to serve as a deterrent to others,” he said.

The commander appealed to the general public to assist the agency in its fight against the consumption and trafficking of illicit drugs, which are destroying many youths.
