NDLEA arrests 90 suspects, seizes 1,699.2 kg illicit drugs in Kogi

The Kogi State Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency’s (NDLEA) has seized a total of 1,699.2kg of various drugs and arrested 90 suspects this year.

The Commander, Abdulkadir Fakai-Abdullahi, made the announcement during a press conference to mark the start of a week-long commemoration of the United Nations International Day Against Drug Abuse and Trafficking.

The theme of this year’s celebration is “People First: End Stigma and Discrimination, Strengthen Prevention.”

According to the Commander, the drugs included Cannabis sativa, codeine, methamphetamine, Exol-5, diazepam, tramadol, and pentazocine, among others.

Many of the suspects, he said, had already been charged in court.

According to Fakai-Abdullahi, the command recorded three convictions during the period under review and counseled several drug users, some of whom were integrated into society.

He warned drug dealers not to enter Kogi because the consequences would be dire.

It is either they stop or the long arms of the law will definitely catch up with them.

He said that the drug war was a task that should not be left in the hands of the agency alone.

The general public must cooperate, support and provide useful information that will help us to get to the traffickers and users.

All hands must be on deck since the Agency cannot do it alone. Everyone must give us a helping hand, he said.
