National Directorate of Employment (NDE) in Kwara state has recruited 480 trainees under the Basic National Open Apprenticeship Scheme (B-NOAS) of the vocational skills department programme for a three-month training on technical and vocational skills in the state.
Speaking during the orientation training of the programme in Ilorin at the weekend, the director-general of the directorate, Dr Nasiru Mohammed Ladan Argungu, said that the training which commenced since Monday, January 13, 2020, was designed for the unemployed, underemployed and the vulnerable people in the 16 local government areas of the state already registered and documented for the training.
Argungu also said that the training was necessitated to cushion the unemployment situation and youth restiveness in the country.

Represented by NDE official from the National Headquarters, Mr Aye Charles, Dr Argungu said that the Federal Government was making efforts to reduce the high rate of unemployment through the NDE with such palliatives in core departments, namely vocational skills department, small scale enterprise, special public works and rural empowerment.
He said the general public would be the ultimate beneficiaries of opportunities and skills that would be provided.
Also speaking, the state coordinator, Mr Gabriel Adeyemo, tasked the youth to be up and doing, saying that they should register at Job Centre Unity, which, he said, served as the gateway to the directorate’s numerous opportunities provided by the federal government.
He said that poverty is always a friend to the unemployed, charging them to make hay while the sun shines.
