NDE is crippled by political interference ― Keyamo

The Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Festus Keyamo, has said that the National Directorate of Employment(NDE)  is crippled by political interference.

Keyamo, therefore, stated that there is a need to insulate the directorate from political interference in order for it to live its responsibilities for all and sundry.

The Minister said this at the 2019 Award Ceremony of the Kickstart Programme of the International Breweries Foundation, held yesterday in Lagos.

He noted that his position is for all regardless of party affiliations, saying that the country should be governed for all and not few.

“The National Directorate of Employment (NDE) has a lot of skill acquisition centres across the country but it is being crippled by political interference.

“There is an urgent need to insulate them from political interference.

“I am not a Minister for APC only, I am a Minister for All. We must begin to govern the country for all and not for the few,” Keyamo said.

The Minister also said that there is a need for skilled and productive human beings for the economy to grow.

He added that this could be done by skilling up the population rather than controlling it.

Meanwhile, Keyamo emphasized the imperativeness of the government to learn a lot from the International Breweries’ Kickstart Programme.
