The National Directorate of Employment (NDE) has formally flagged off its implementation of the Artisans in Collaborative Construction Employment Scheme (ACCES) in Imo with the aim of empowering and equipping the Artisans with the necessary skills required to be self-reliant.
Flagging off the program at the School of Nursing Building Project, situated at Umuokwere in Ogbaku Community of Mbaitoli Local Government Area of Imo State, the Director General of NDE, Mallam Abubakar Nuhu Fikpo advised the artisans to be serious with their training and assignments.
Fikpo was represented at the flag-off event by the Imo State Coordinator of NDE, Barr. Chisara Eqwim-Chima assured the artisans of immediate payment of their money at the end of their three months of skill acquisition training.
He promised to carry out prompt and regular supervision at the site to ascertain the progress of work done and their commitments to the training.
In her speech, the Director of Special Public Works (SPW) NDE Abuja, Mrs. Olaomi Roseline represented by Mr. Idris Muhamood from the NDE Abuja office, commended the efforts and commitments of the artisans shown in the discharge of their assignments and training.
She informed them of the NDE’s plans to send some of them to road construction for the purposes of upgrading their skills.
According to her, the whole essence of putting in place the program by NDE is to make sure the artisans become self-employed while urging them to take their jobs/training seriously.
She promised prompt compensation and payment of their money at the end of their training.
Responding, one of the artisans, and the supervisor of the project, Solomon Oduozah expressed his appreciation on behalf with a view to acquiring the needed skills to succeed.
