The Jigawa state office of the National Directorate of Employment (NDE) has empowered seven People Living With Disability (PWDs) with over N2.1 million in skills acquisition equipment.
Speaking while handing over the materials to the beneficiaries at the federal secretariat in Dutse, the coordinator of the Jigawa state NDE, Alhaji Hamza Garba said the beneficiaries were part of graduates who had undergone three months of training.

The coordinator explained that the state trained 81 PWDs under the Renewed Hope Employment Initiative conducted by the NDE and the National Commission for People Living With Disabilities (NCPWDS) in demand skills across vocational training.
He said, “This initiative has culminated in the launching of resettlement of the trained beneficiaries to power participants to become not only self-employed but employers of labour.”
He noted that each participant among the seven would receive working equipment and cash worth over N309,000 in their respective chosen areas.
Garba maintained that “the package is a revolving loan to be paid back in installments and would be given to others to benefit.
“I wish to thank the national commission for people living with disability for their support through the mobilisation and management of persons with disabilities across Nigeria who participated in the programme.”
