NDE distributes environmental beautification equipment to 26 persons in Imo

The National Directorate of Employment (NDE) has disbursed empowerment equipment and tools worth millions of naira to 26 beneficiaries of the Environmental Beautification Training Scheme (EBTS) under its Special Public Works (SPW) Department in Imo State.

Some of the equipment distributed for hard landscaping skill, soft landscaping skill and PoP skill, include head pans, wheelbarrows, water pumps, trowels, shovels balusters, moulds, secateurs, among others.

Handing over the equipments to the beneficiaries at the NDE office in Owerri, the Director-General of NDE, Mallam Abubakar Nuhu Fikpo, said that the beneficiaries have been trained by the directorate on series of high demand and money-making skills.

Fikpo, represented by the State Coordinator of NDE, Chisara Egwim-Chima, explained that the equipment and training will help the beneficiaries to be self-reliant financially in line with the mandate of the directorate.

He advised the beneficiaries to demonstrate a high sense of commitment to ensure that the efforts of the Federal Government through the NDE on job creation and employment generation is fulfilled.

The DG advised the beneficiaries to remain committed and dedicated to improve their economic status and create employment opportunities for others, thereby reducing the burden of unemployment in the society.

Fikpo pointed out that the NDE has worked hard in combating unemployment through the Department of Special Public Works (SPW) and other job creation programme departments to ensure that the programmes get to the unemployed youths in the country.

Addressing the beneficiaries, the Director of Special Public Works (SPW), NDE Abuja, Mrs Roseline Olaomi, urged the 26 beneficiaries to be committed having been selected out of the many registered unemployed participants.

Olaomi, represented by Mr Idris Muhamood of NDE Abuja, said that the essence of the empowerment is to take the beneficiaries out of  the unemployment circle and make them employers of labour,  while advising them to immediately go into their businesses with the equipment given to them and start something meaningful.

Responding on behalf of other beneficiaries, Mr  Amajuoyi Chukwuemeka thanked NDE for empowering them with the necessary equipments that will assist them start off their businesses. He assured that the equipments will be put into judicious use for their benefits and for others.
