THE Executive Secretary, Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission (NCPC), Bishop Stephen Adegbite, has reassured the commission’s readiness to continue to protect and guarantee the safety of Nigerian pilgrims while in the holy land.
Adegbite, who disclosed this recently in Abuja while playing host to the members of board of the Lagos State Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board, reiterated the commission’s continuous protection of pilgrims in line with the NCPC’s policy.
He stressed that Israel is safe for pilgrims, saying, “Our journey must terminate in Israel, God’s own country.”
The NCPC boss further maintained that under his leadership, pilgrimage would be more spiritual and developmental, promising that the commission would not cheat anyone and nobody should think of cheating the commission because transparency remains the hallmark of his administration.
He disclosed that the Easter pilgrimage exercise to Israel and Jordan would commence next month, adding that the duration for the commission’s pilgrimage exercise has been increased to nine nights and 10 days.
He assured members of the board of the Lagos State Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board that he would work in synergy with them to advance the cause of Christian pilgrimage in Lagos State and Nigeria at large.
Earlier, the Chairman, Lagos State Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board, Bishop Akinpelu Johnson, represented by the Vice Chairman of the Board, Bishop (Professor) Rufus Oguntuase, said they were in NCPC to congratulate their own on a well-deserved appointment.
He appreciated Bishop Adegbite for his love and commitment in the service of God and humanity.
He said, “We are here as board members from Lagos State to appreciate and to welcome you.”
Oguntuase appealed to the Executive Secretary to ensure that the pilgrimage cost for the Easter pilgrimage is released to enable them plan along with the intending pilgrims.
He further canvassed that the Easter pilgrimage flag-off should be held in Lagos State.
The courtesy visit was attended by the Board Secretary, Mrs Yetunde Gbafe; the Head of Operations, Mrs Kehinde Omisore and other members of the board, among others.
