Published by

The Executive Secretary of the Nigeria Christian Pilgrim Commission (NCPC), Rev. Tor Uja has disclosed that the 2016 Christian Pilgrimage exercise to Israel, Rome and Greece would be flagged off on November 17, 2016 in Yola, Adamawa State.  He made this known while inaugurating the Security Sub Committee for this year’s pilgrimage exercise in his office recently in Abuja.

Speaking during the inauguration, Rev. Uja explained that the present economic challenges of this nation is temporal and urged the security sub committee to develop structures of knowledge and information that would help the commission to run a crisis free pilgrimage devoid of bad image and abscondment.

He intimated that security in Nigeria is everybody’s business and except everyone is integrated in the issues of security Nigeria would not be able to put an end to the security challenges of this nation. According to him, “I will like your committee to offer training and exposure to others so that collectively we can handle the issues of security both locally and internationally”.

Reverend Uja stated that Pilgrimage is a call to guidance and motivation and urged the members of the security sub committee to be exemplary leaders that would teach the younger generation that Nigeria has more to deliver than corruption. In his words, “I want you to be leaders who will let the younger ones know that beyond money there is life and beyond corruption there is honour and service”.

He stressed that the greatest form of security is when Nigeria is engraved in the heart of its citizens and also, when Christ is written in the heart of every Christian who go on pilgrimage. He added that the Commission wants those who would go on pilgrimage to have Christ written in their hearts. According to him, “nobody is successful if he has not built his nation and no one is a true Christian if Christ is not written in his heart”.

In his own remarks, the chairman of the committee, Major General Emmanuel Nienge (Rtd) thanked the Executive Secretary for giving them the opportunity and privilege to contribute their quota to this year’s pilgrimage exercise.

He averred that with the cooperation of the commission, the committee would put in their best to ensure a successful 2016 pilgrimage exercise.

The 2016 Security Sub Committee is drawn from the Department of State Security (DSS), Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), the Nigeria Air Force (NAF), Nigeria Custom Service (NCS), Nigeria Intelligence Agency (NIA) Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) and the Nigeria Army.
