Determined to advance cassava production in the country, the Nigeria Cassava Growers Association (NCGA) is set to hold a world summit on the crop.
National President of the Association, Segun Adewumi, who revealed this to journalists said that the summit will hold before the 2019 general elections.

While pleading with the government for support, Adewumi said that it can be an alternative to oil if given required attention.
“We are envisaging the various organs of government to collaborate with us, cassava can face oil, and we can even make better money than you get from oil if we pay attention to it.
“Due to what is happening in the world now, our oil might phase off; so, I think we should go into massive cassava production and processing,’’ he said.
Adewumi appealed to the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to facilitate the disbursement of loans to the farmers under the Anchor Borrowers.
