NCDC will mitigate infrastructural challenge in North-Central — Senator Mustapha

Senator representing Kwara Central, Senator Saliu Mustapha, has expressed satisfaction over the signing into law, the North Central Development Commission (NCDC) bill.

The Chairman, Senate Committee on Agriculture and Rural Development, in a statement on Tuesday noted that with the development, “the North Central region now joins other geopolitical zones in having a dedicated regional development commission, aimed at addressing infrastructural deficits and fostering sustainable growth in the region.”

Tribune Online checks revealed that bills for similar federal government intervention agencies have since been passed into law for the South West, North West and the South East regions by President Tinubu.

The lawmaker declared that with his presidential assent, Tinubu has showed commitment to equitable national development.

Senator Mustapha equally thanked the governors of the North Central states, particularly Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara State, for their political support in ensuring the successful passage of the bill while also acknowledging “the instrumental role played by the Senate President, Senator Godswill Akpabio, in making the vision of the commission a reality. ”

The lawmaker in his statement particularly congratulated his esteemed colleagues from the North Central geopolitical zone for their collective effort in championing the bill through the legislative process, leading to its eventual assent.

“The establishment of the North Central Development Commission is a significant milestone in our region’s history. It will serve as a catalyst for development, addressing the unique challenges facing the zone, particularly in the areas of infrastructure, security, and economic growth. I am confident that this commission will bring lasting benefits to our people,” Senator Mustapha stated.
