NCC rolls out plans for 30th anniversary

As the 30th anniversary of Nigerian Copyright Commission (NCC) draws near, the commission has concluded plans to celebrate the evolution of the creative industry and copyright industries in the last 30 years in style.

With series of events lined up to mark the three decade anniversary of the commission, R gathered that NCC would be showcasing its contributions to nation building through the creative industry even as it would also celebrate the evolution of the copyright industry in the last 30 years.

In a statement made available to R on Friday, the commission, through its Public Affairs Director, Mr Vincent Oyefeso, said NCC had over the years supported the creative industry to maximise its potential, adding that the creative industry had also added value to the image of the country among the comity of nations.

The celebration, which will begin on Monday with a parley, according to Oyefeso, would attract media executives from different platforms as they discuss the current state of the industry and its projection under NCC for the next 30 years.

“The commission is planning to mark landmark anniversary in collaboration with stakeholders in the creative and copyright industries. The celebration will provide an opportunity to, among others, celebrate the evolution of the creative and copyright industries in the last 30 years and underscore their critical importance to our national development strides,” he said.

Oyefeso added that that “the commission has discharged its mandate with appreciable commitment, leading to significant growth of Nigeria’s creative sector in the last three decades.

The commission will also be unveiling unveil the anniversary logo and theme, along with the presentation of the Commission’s publication “What is Copyright?” for school children.
