  • Targets $100bn industry value by 2030

THE National Council for Arts and Culture (NCAC) and the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) have signed a landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to accelerate the digital transformation of Nigeria’s creative and cultural industries.

This groundbreaking partnership, formalised at The Omniverse 2.0 Summit, aims to integrate technology with culture, unlocking unprecedented economic opportunities for artists, filmmakers, and creators. By harnessing the power of digital platforms, artificial intelligence (AI), Web3, and NFT technologies, Nigeria is poised to become a global leader in creative-tech innovation.

According to NCAC’s Director General, Mr Obi Asika, “This partnership has the potential to empower Nigerian talent in the digital age, creating new avenues for creative expression, innovation, and entrepreneurship.”

Dr. Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi from NITDA emphasised the importance of technology in realising the creative industry’s potential, with a target of reaching a $100 billion industry value by 2030.

The collaboration will focus on several key areas, including; improving access to e-commerce, providing creatives with the tools and platforms needed to reach global markets and audiences and training creatives in digital monetisation.
