The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has finalized the drafting of its State Safety Programme (SSP), marking a significant step towards full-scale implementation in compliance with the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) requirements.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, NCAA spokesman Michael Achimugu highlighted that the SSP draft demonstrates Nigeria’s commitment to adhering to ICAO Annex 19. This annex provides a comprehensive framework for managing aviation safety in line with international best practices.

Acting Director General of NCAA, Captain Chris Najomo, has invited stakeholders to contribute to the refinement of the SSP document. The NCAA emphasized that stakeholder input is crucial for enhancing the programme’s relevance, coordination, and overall success, benefiting both immediate safety and long-term security.
The draft SSP document is available on the NCAA website at www.ncaa.gov.na/ssp. Feedback and suggestions should be submitted via the NCAA email addresses by Monday, 30th September, 2024.
