NBTE lauds Osun gov over academic, physical devt at OSPOLY

THE executive secretary of the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE), Dr. Mas’udu Adamu Kazaure, has commended the Osun State governor, Mr. Gboyega Oyetola, over the positive developments in Osun State Polytechnic, Iree.

Dr Kazaure spoke through the Director of Polytechnic Programmes of the board, Mr. Musa Mohammed Isgogo, who led officials of the NBTE on an accreditation visit to the institution.

He noted that OSPOLY had witnessed tremendous developments in manpower, pedagogical tools and infrastructure, and that the peaceful co-existence between staff and management of the institution is an indication that the proprietor of the polytechnic takes education seriously in his governance.

The NBTE chief called on the state government to ensure that the welfare of staff and regular provision of necessary facilities needed to meet up with current trends in science and technology are given priority.

He also enjoined staff and students of the polytechnic to always support the government, saying “to whom much is given, much is expected.”

Speaking with newsmen after a thorough manpower and facility assessment at various departments in the polytechnic, the NBTE team leader affirmed that with the state-of-the-art equipment, qualified lecturers, conducive lecture halls,  experienced technologists, technical staff and organized management, OSPOLY had improved in its standards.

10 different courses were presented for re-accreditation, accreditation and verification.

They were National Diploma (ND) and Higher National Diploma (HND) in Office Technology and Management, ND and HND in Mass Communication, ND Computer Science, ND Electrical Engineering, HND Marketing and HND Science Laboratory Technology (Microbiology option), while ND Welding and Fabrication and Agricultural and Bio-Environmental Engineering were presented for fresh accreditation.

Also presented for verification exercise were ND Mechanical, ND Building Technology and HND Civil Engineering.

In his reaction, the acting rector, Dr Olawoye Olaniran, attributed the achievements recorded to the supportive role played by the state governor, as well as the commitment and zeal of staff and management of the polytechnic.

The registrar of the institution, Mr. Busari Salawu, while appreciating the accreditation team, assured that the polytechnic would continue to maintain its leading standard among the comity of polytechnics in the country.
