NBAIS strategies to enhance quality education in Nigerian schools

IN its resolve to enhance the quality of Arabic education in schools to meet international standards the Board for Arabic and Islamic Studies (NBAIS) has rolled out a strategic plan.

This was disclosed by the Registrar of the Board, Professor Muhammad Shafi’u Abdullahi at the commencement of a capacity building workshop on human capacity development organized by the Board in conjunction with the Institute of Information and Strategy Management in Gombe.

The Registrar who was represented by Ahmed Abdul-Fathy, Director of Legal of the Board said that topmost among the plans is the posting on the attachment of trained NBAIS staff to all Arabic and Islamic schools in the country to serve as the Board’s Quality Assurance Officers in collaboration with relevant departments in the State Ministries of Education.

This, he said, is to help in the effective implementation of NBAIS school syllabi and curricula which will greatly assist in addressing the falling standard of education in Nigeria.

The Board, he added, will also organise capacity building programmes for teachers through in-house workshops and seminars in collaboration with schools, State Ministries of Education and the Federal Ministry of Education.

The aim, he said, is that at the end, the Board would be furnished with quarterly reports of schools activities for a well-guided advice to Federal and State Ministries of Education among many others.

He then gave assurance that the programme will excel in providing the way for a lasting solution to the prevailing educational crises that led to the falling standard of education in our schools adding that the programme will bail Nigeria out of the present challenge in the face of Africa and the world in general.

Gombe State Governor, Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo who was represented by his Commissioner for Youth and Students Affairs, Farouk Yarma called on the board to use the programme to create and give the youth a better future.
