Nationwide strike: Partial compliance in Benue

THE warning strike embarked upon by Nigeria Labour Congress across the country on Thursday was partial in Benue State.

Public schools were shut down while the students who had gone to school were sent back.

Our correspondent who went around the state capital report that some workers report to work.

At the state and federal secretariats including commercial banks, workers were seen on their duty posts until labour officials picketed the offices.

Reacting to the level of compliance in the state, the State Chairman of NLC, Comrade Godwin Anya maintained that the level of compliance by state workers was very encouraging and expressed hope that it would continue the same way tomorrow. (Friday)

He said: “No going back on this industrial action until we receive a directive from the national secretariat to that effect. Our monitoring team went round offices today to ensure compliance and we believing that it would continue tomorrow”.
