UNION Bank hockey team will today lock horns with defending champions, Niger Flickers, in the ongoing Nation Hockey Super League in Abuja.
Union Bank team played a goalless draw against the Police Machine in its first game, This was followed by a 3-1 victory over Yobe Desert Rollers. Third game against Kada Stars, however, ended 1-0 in Union Bank’s favour.
Speaking with Corporatesport by phone from Abuja, shortly after the game, Sports Manager, Union Bank, Peter Okoro said: “We appreciate God for todays’ victory amidst unwarranted hostility and unfair officiating from the Umpires. Our next match has just been confirmed to be against the defending champion, Niger Flickers on Wednesday (today).
“Our position is still confirmed as number one on the table with seven points from three matches played so far.
“We are hopeful to maintain the lead and return to Lagos with the league trophy.”
