Nation Building: Our traditional institutions must be respected, Adeboye says

THE General Overseer, Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, on Thursday, advised government at all levels to accord the traditional class with respect for them to perform their roles in nation-building.

Adeboye said this in his remarks at the commissioning of the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the Redeemer Health Centre, at the Redemption Camp, Mowe, Ogun State.

Pastor Adeboye submitted that any government that fails to recognise the institution was bound to fail.

“I am convinced beyond all doubts that in any restructuring that Nigeria may do, they must have a very special place for traditional rulers.

“Any form of government in Nigeria that ignores the traditional rulers or push them to the background is faulty because they have been ruling us before the British came and they were doing a good job,” he said.

The ICU donated by Pastor Folu Adeboye was commissioned by the Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun.

The governor in his address called on religious bodies and corporate institutions situated within the state to embark on Corporate Social Responsibility programmes that would better the lives of the people.

He said the unit would help in speeding up the process of health provision, not only to members of the church but also to the people from neighbouring areas.

Abiodun noted that the commissioning of the project was a milestone in the history of the church.

“There are open windows of partnerships in other areas of infrastructural development provision of amenities and human capital development, I assure you that you will find us worthy partners.”
