The Nigerian Automobile Technicians Association (NATA), Ogun State chapter, has called on the state governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, to intervene in the leadership crisis in the union in the state.
The chairman of the association, Ismail Idowu, said, at a press conference, that the governor’s early intervention was necessary in view of the fact that two persons were laying claim to the chairmanship seat.
Idowu alleged that one of the governor’s political appointee was behind the claim by Mr Olawale Obadeyi to the seat.
“It is in view of this that we thought there was need for us to tell the governor and the world that a force within his administration has been using his name to perpetrate illegality and promote division within our association,” he emphasised.
“We are now appealing to the state governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, to please use his good office to stop Obadeyi from parading himself as the chairman of the association, and his sponsor in government should be stopped from aiding crisis within our association,” he said.
When contacted, the former chairman, Olawale Obadeyi, insisted that he remained the authentic chairman of the association, saying Idowu was only claiming the seat which does not belong to him.
He said after expiration of his first term in April, he was re-elected and sworn-in for second term.
