NASS does not hate Buhari ― Dogara explains

Published by
Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara has declared unequivocally that the National Assembly is not in any way opposed nor hate President Muhammadu Buhari but concerned about good governance and delivery of dividends of democracy to Nigerians.
The Speaker who was addressing PDP supporters on Saturday during the flagging off of the gubernatorial campaign of the party held in Bununu said that “let me correct this impression that the NASS hates President Muhammadu Buhari, it is the handiwork of political distractors. The NASS does not hate the President, all we are doing is to ensure that the needful was done”.
Citing the happening in the US as an example, Yakubu Dogara explained that each of the three arms of government has its constitutional assigned roles and functions and must work together for the good of the people.
He added that when he brought some developmental projects to the state, the APC led administration in Bauchi state did everything humanly to frustrate it “but later when the projects were completed they claimed that it was Federal Government projects thereby causing confusion among the people”.
The Speaker who spoke in Hausa narrated how his effort to reconstruct the Bununu Central Mosque was frustrated saying, “when we sent Engineers from the Federal Ministry of Works, the local government authority refused to cooperate with them claiming that if the work was done they (the government dictionaries) will lose their jobs. We were left with no option but to go to Bar and did it “.
He added that “they said that we padded the budget only to turn around to say that the projects executed were done by the Federal Government. Does it mean that the President padded? He asked.
Yakubu Dogara added that there’s no way he as the Speaker will beg a Minister for projects but rather it is the Minister who should lobby the NASS for project allocation to his or her Ministry.
He then assured that he will continue to do his best to ensure that democracy thrives in the country just as he appealed to all those involved in the electoral process to play the game in accordance with the laws and regulations.
