THE Nasrul Lahi l Fatih Society (NASFAT), women wing, on Thursday began a four-day conference on insecurity and kidnapping in Kaduna, Kaduna State.
Other subjects to be discussed at the conference, which will end on Sunday, include molestation, poverty, health challenges, marital issues and unfair treatment of women in the society.
Speaking at a press conference at the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) secretariat in Kaduna, the National Women Affairs Secretary of NASFAT, Alhaja Samiat Omolara Mumuni, said about 1,000 delegates from across Nigeria and West Africa, the United Kingdom and the United States are expected to grace the event.
This year’s biennial conference, according to Mumuni, is the sixth of its kind holding in Kaduna at the National Teachers’ Institute (NTI).

She said the theme of the conference, “Preparing Muslimah for the Challenges of Our Time,” was aimed at discussing the challenges and proffering solutions to them.
“The event will feature renowned Islamic public speakers, including Dr Binta Abdulkarim, who is the theme speaker; Hajia Maryam Lemu of the Islamic Education Trust (IET), Minna. She is going to speak on personal development plans and values. Barrister Sulaiman Lanre Ipinmisho, a former director at the National Agency for Drug Administration and Control (NDLEA), will speak on combating drug abuse.
“We are also going to have representatives from other religious organisations and a few non-governmental organisations (NGOs). The event is going to be chaired by Professor Ango Abdullahi,” Mumuni added.
