The Chief Missioner of Nasrul-Lahi-Fatih Society (NASFAT), Imam Abdulaziz Onike, on Saturday led a prayer for late President Shehu Shagari and urged leaders to emulate his simple lifestyle.
Speaking at the Sama Road private house of the former president in Sokoto when he paid a condolence visit on Friday, Onike described the death of former President Shehu Shagari as a great loss to Nigeria and the African continent.
Shagari died on Dec. 28, at the age of 93 at the National Hospital Abuja and was buried in his hometown in Shagari Local Government Area (LGA) of Sokoto on Saturday, Dec. 29.
Onike disclosed that he was in Sokoto to condole Shagari’s family and entire people of Sokoto on behalf of elders, preachers, management and other members of NASFAT.
He enjoined Nigerians to emulate good habits of the former president and described him as a father to all stressing that simple living promotes peaceful coexistence.
He explained that the association started in 1995 with 10 family members now have about 350 branches worldwide conducting businesses and preaching Islam in peaceful ways, while also revealed that NASFAT is the first Islamic organization to have a private university in the country.

The Missioner said Shagari lived a beneficial life that would be remembered and called Nigerians to follow his footsteps.
Responding, Eldest son of Shagari, Alhaji Bala Shagari thanked the organization for the visit adding that the continues condolences translated his former President live a good life with people in different areas.
 He expressed joy for being a son to a man of Shehu Shagari quality. Bala also disclosed how as a son of a sitting president, Shagari never allocated any security to any of his children but rather thought them how to live a simple life.
The condolence visits was attended by Zonal Chairman of NASFAT,  Muftahu Olusola Osho, National Secretary, Alhaji Ayodeji Abdulrauf, Alhaji Sokoto state chairman, Alhaji Muftahu Alani-Oke , Zonal Secretary, Alhaji Aliyu Abdulraheem among other members.
