NASFAT begins 19th annual Women’s Week Sunday

THE Women Management Committee of the Nasrul Lahi l Fatih Society (NASFAT) Worldwide is set to hold the 19th edition of the organisation’s annual Women’s Week which is scheduled to commence on Sunday, September 23, with Sunday, September 30 fixed as the grand finale.

A statement by NASFAT’s Women Affairs Secretary, Alhaja Samiat Mumuni, said the weeklong event would be flagged off with the general asalatu and special prayer for women. This, she said, would be followed by the celebration of the elders as well as Qonitat widow.

The week, according to the statement, will be characterised by fasting and special du’a for the nation, NASFAT members and all stakeholders.

Other highlights of the week include visit to the hospitals, prisons and rehabilitation centres. The week will also witness other traditional activities such as Women Connect, an Islamic knowledge-based activity.

“During the week, NASFAT women will take campaign against drug abuse to motor parks where they are expected to engage motorists and other stakeholders.

“As usual, the fund raising dinner of the Women’s Week will take place on Friday, 28th September, while the grand finale of the week will hold on the 30th of  September at NASFAT Islamic Centre, Aseese, on the  Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, with Alhaja Foluso Kafayat Abdulrazaq, a frontline entrepreneur and an administrator par excellence as the chairperson of the event.

“The grand finale is expected to attract well over 10,000 NASFAT women drawn from various locations in Nigeria and in the diaspora.

“The theme of this year’s annual Women’s Week is Drug Abuse: A Wake-up Call for Muslimah,” the statement said.
