THE Nasarawa State Security Council has hailed the conduct of security agents during workers protest at the Government House, Lafia, which led to the death of two protesting workers in the state.
Speaking to newsmen, shortly after a security meeting held at the Government House, Lafia, on Tuesday, the Attorney General of the state, Barrister Yusuf Shehu Usman, said the professional conduct of the security agents at the government house gate, reduced the number of casualties.
He explained that “from the official reports received by the council from the relevant agencies so far, it was confirmed and established that two persons lost their lives; one was allegedly killed by a pellet, and the other’s fore head was injured from being stuck with a large blunt object, but not a bullet.”
“Council noted with regret that the unfortunate incident. It would have been averted if the state members of the NLC had heeded the advice of their national officials to stay within the Labour House pending the outcome of their meeting”, he said.
He added that, full investigation in the incident is in progress by the security agencies assuring that, perpetrators of the act will be brought to justice.
The Attorney General urged people of the state to remain calm and go about their lawful businesses as their security is guaranteed.
