THE Nasarawa State Police Command has arrested 9 suspects of culpable homicide responsible for the killing of a Chinese national, a police sergeant and two other natives of Nasarawa Eggon who were all staff of a mining company, CEDAR- BAY Nigerian Ltd, Nasarawa Eggon.
The Commissioner of Police Abubakar Sadiq Bello who disclosed this to newsmen on Friday at the police headquarters in Lafia, said, the suspects opened fire on the company’s truck that led to the death of the four staff of the company, carted away with rifle of the police escort.
“ The discreet investigation carried out by the police after the incidence led to the arrest of ten suspects that committed the henious act.
“Exhibit recovered from them includes two pictures. One of the pictures is that of the ring leader Yahuza Yahaya who was wearing a military camouflage uniform and carrying an AK-47 assault rifle, while the other person is at large”, he explained.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner also disclosed the arrest of one Evangelist Nahum Adam of Eyen Utendo Global Ventures Ltd, a Non Governmental Organisation, who indulges in collecting children of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) and selling them to other individuals.
Bello explained that, “the police got wind of the information when one Master Warrant Officer, Auta Isah informed the police that the Evangelist came into their church premises with a Peugeot station wagon car with registration no AA 273 ANW with eight children inside and was sharing them to individuals.
The Commissioner, however, thanked members of the public for assisting the police in achieving its feat in 2016 and assured of better security in 2017.
He added that, the Evangelist had lied to the parents of the children of the IDPs that he was going to educate them saying the police had earlier recovered four children he had sold from Abuja and Jos whom have been reunited with their parents including the newly discovered 8 children.
