Nasarawa police command confirms killing one person, 3 other injured in market

THE Nasarawa State Police Command has confirmed the attack of Ashangwa market which led to the killing of one person and other injured.

ASP Samaila Usman, State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in an interview said the police are on top of the situation as the investigation is ongoing to fish out the killers and bring them to book.

According to him, the police on Tuesday received reports that some people disrupted Ashangwa market leading to the death of one person and three seriously injured.

“From the preliminary investigation, one person who was killed his remains was burnt and buried by unknown persons, while three who were seriously injured are receiving treatment in an undisclosed hospital in Lafia,” he said.

He said that though no arrest was made yet, police personnel were already deployed to the area to maintain law and order.

He assured the public that all those who have a connection with the crises would be brought to book.

He, therefore, warned members of the public against taking the law into their hands.

Similarly, an eyewitness who preferred anonymity, told pressmen that the problem stated when Sallah celebration by the Fulani’s turn to violence.

“They stated among themselves and started attacking other people in the market, so everybody run for his life.

“It was a letter on the day that we got information that one person was killed while others who were attacked were taken to the hospital, ” he added.

He said that they received information that four persons were dead.
