NASARAWA state Governor-Elect, Engr. Abdulahi Audu Sule has assured that local and international agriculture donor agencies will be afforded an enabling and attractive environment to operate and contribute to the sector in the state after he is sworn in as governor.
This is contained in a statement signed by Alhaji Sanusi Aliyu, media aide to the governor-elect and made available to Nigerian Tribune in Lafia on Monday.
According to the statement, the decision to prioritize agriculture and provide an enabling environment for all stakeholders in the agriculture sector especially donor agencies are geared towards boosting food production in the state and generating revenue through the sector.

“The incoming administration of his Excellency, Engr. Abdullahi Sule will give top priority to the agricultural sector because it is the mainstay of people of the state and it is in line with the vision of President Muhammadu Buhari to diversify the nation’s economy.
“The governor-elect has pledged to make sure that the environment in the state is suitable and conducive for all stakeholders interested in investing in the agriculture sector in the state.
“Jobs will be created. Adequate food will be available and more revenue will be generated for the state,” says the statement.
The statement adds that that funds and incentives would also be made available to support farmers and make farming attractive to youths across the state.

“A lot of residents in the state are farmers. So this intervention will go a long way for many people in the state. The incentives can also open up the state for agricultural development and enhance easy movement of farm products to markets,” The statement added.
The statement then commended the current state governor Umar Al-Makura for according special priority to the provision of good roads across the state which according to the statement has helped tremendously in tackling rural-urban migration and enhanced easy movement of goods and services across the state.
