NASARAWA State government has donated land for the construction of barracks and other facilities of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps( NSCDC) in the state.
Governor Umaru Tanko Almakura, made the revelation on Wednesday at the occasion marking the passing out parade of NSCDC staff on arms handling in Lafia the state capital, saying the land will serve as a pioneer Barack for parliamentary outfit that would east their operations to combat crime and secure life and property in line with their core mandate.
” His Excellency has approved the donations of land that will serve as the pioneer civil defense barracks to be constructed in Nasarawa state, not only land but that is conspicuously located in the heart of the state capital,” he said.

Speaking through his Deputy, Salis Agara, Al- makura, added that government will b also give out land to serve as the command’s headquarter, stating further that the land would be handed to the state commandant within in a week time.
He added that the government has instructed Director General Nasarawa state Geoinformation Survey ( NAGIS) to make the available certificate of occupancy of the land before the end of this month.
The Governor, urged the men and officers of the command, to take advantage of the robust relationship with the state government to charge to take charge of the security architecture of Nasarawa state.
” we will continue to provide the needed logistic support with a view to maintaining law and order and the protection of lives and properties ” he reiterated.
Speaking earlier, Muhammad Gidado Mahmoud- Fari the state commandant of NSCDC said that 4,395 officers of the Corps were trained by the mobile unit of Nigerian Police force Nasarawa state command, 117 Guard Battalion, Nigerian army Keffi and 72 special forces battalion of the Nigerian army Markurdi Benue state.

According to him, officers who were trained in firearms handling, obstacles crossing, range classification, counter-terrorism and Improvise Explosive Device ( IED).
The commandant, reiterated the need for adequate training of personnel as it will enhance the skills and knowledge of the staff.
” Therefore, the measure of success and achievement in any security formation can be determined by the level of training such formation obtained, any security formation without adequate training is just like fish without water, it cannot survive” he stated.
