Nasarawa farmers unable to access N335 million CBN anchor borrowers loan due to Al-makura’s negligence – NASz

 

THE Nasarawa State Chairman of Nigerian Association of Small and Medium Enterprises (NASME ), Chris John Mamuda has attributed the inability of farmers in the state to access the Central Bank of  Nigeria(CBN ) Anchor Borrowers Scheme to the negligence of Governor Umaru Tanko Al-makura’s led government.

Speaking to Nigerian Tribune in Lafia on Wednesday, Mamuda said the CBN has allocated N335 million as loan for farmers in the state, but there is no technical framework put in place by the government to assist farmers acquire the loan.

“Nasarawa state government does not have a clear-cut economic blue print for the state even the one they claim they have in the budget, there is no clear cut implementation framework “, he said.

Mamuda explained that even if the government are not ready to assist the farmers with the 10 percent collateral required by the CBN, they should set up a technical team that would guide the farmers in accessing the loans.

” In Edo state the were able to bring the farmers together, by grouping them so that it would be easy to get their money, they have gotten theirs but here our government seems to be quiet” , he lamented.

The NASME chairman,  said already some states of the federation have already accessed their funds and  swung into action for bountiful harvest, calling on the state state government to act fast while the sun shines.
