Nasarawa Assembly confirms 16 out of 17 commissioner nominees

The Nasarawa State House of Assembly screened and confirmed 16 out of the 17 commissioner nominees sent to the House by Governor Abdullahi Sule.

The Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Ibrahim Balarabe Abdullahi, made the announcement during the House proceedings in Lafia today.

Congratulating the confirmed nominees, the Speaker wished them the best in their new assignments. He explained that out of the 17 nominees, one nominee, Haruna Musa from Nassarawa Eggon LGA, was unable to appear for the screening due to indisposition.

The 16 commissioner-nominees who appeared, screened, and were confirmed are as follows:

  1. Hon. Yakubu Kwanta – Akwanga LG
  2. Aishatu Rufai – Awe LG
  3. Umar Abubakar Dan’akano – Awe LG
  4. Munirat Abdullahi – Doma LG
  5. Timothy Kasuwa – Karu LG
  6. Ja’afaru Ango – Karu LG
  7. Margaret Elayo – Keana LG
  8. Bala Mulki – Keffi LG
  9. JOHN D W Mamman – KOKONA LG
  10. Abubakar Imam Zanwa – Lafia LG
  11. Samuel Kafu Emgba – Lafia LG
  12. Aliyu Ahmed Tijjani – Nasarawa LG
  13. Muhammed Iyimoga – Obi LG
  14. Labaran Magaji – Toto LG
  15. Gaza Gwamna – Toto LG
  16. Mu’azu Gosho – Wamba LG

The Speaker instructed the Clerk of the House to communicate the House’s resolution to Governor Abdullahi Sule for necessary action.

On a related note, the Majority Leader of the House, Hon. Mohammed Adamu Omadefu (APC- Keana), moved a motion for the confirmation of the commissioner nominees, which was seconded by the House Minority Leader, Hon. Luka Zhekaba (PDP- Obi 11). The House unanimously screened and confirmed 16 out of the 17 commissioner nominees.

Governor Abdullahi Sule had submitted the list of 17 commissioner nominees to the Nasarawa State House of Assembly for screening and possible confirmation on July 28, 2023.

The House also announced that it would commence its recess on Wednesday, 2nd August 2023, and resume on 4th September 2023.

This decision was moved by Hon. Mohammed Adamu Omadefu and seconded by Hon. Luka Zhekaba.
