The National Association of Seadogs (NAS) has commenced sensitization of secondary school students in Delta State against drug abuse and other social vices.

The exercise, which is being carried out in collaboration with the National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), was led by Barr. Moses Agwere,  the Second Mate of the Vito Corsica Deck in charge of (the Aniocha/Oshimili and Ika Federal Constituencies) of the state.

Speaking on the campaign theme “Say No To Illicit Drugs And Substance Abuse: Protect Your Future…Be Stronger Than Any Excuse To Indulge” at West-End Mixed Secondary School Asaba, Delta State,   Barr. Agwere informed the students that the campaign is to help them resist the temptation of going into drugs and substance abuse.

Explaining the commitments of NAS in fighting ills of the society, including drugs abuse prostitution, truancy, bad governance, corruption, nepotism, and embezzlement of public funds, amongst others, Barr Agwere noted that drug abuse and other social vices had affected the education of many Nigerian youths and the society at large.

He advised parents and guardians always to monitor the movement of their children in order not to be influenced by bad friends.

Also speaking,  the State Commander of NDLEA, Barr Tunde John,  represented by a Superintendent of Narcotics, Christy Odega, explained that drug abuse was improper use of normal drugs, excessive usage of drugs, and not following normal prescriptions of drugs.

The association used the occasion to donate a set of musical band instruments, a modern set of Portal Sound (Public Address System), and other educational materials to co-ed.
