ACTIVITIES organised by the National Association of Nigerian Theatre Arts Practitioners (NANTAP), to mark the 2017 World Theatre Day will climax tomorrow, Monday, at the National Theatre, Iganmu, Lagos.
The celebration, which began on Saturday with the staging of Ayo Arigbabu’s ‘Moremi RSVP’ by the Crown Troupe of Africa at Freedom Park, Lagos Island will end tomorrow with a three-in-one event. The first is an advocacy roundtable with ‘Theatre, a springboard for effective recovery from economic recession’ as its theme by 10am.
It will feature producer and a former NANTAP national president, Greg Odutayo, actor Toyin Oshinaike and producer Tope Oshin as discussants. Playwright and culture activist, Ben Tomoloju will give an industry overview, Secretary General of CORA, Toyin Akinosho will give a critical review while Dr Tunji Azeez will moderate.
Later in the afternoon by 1pm, The Thespian Family Theatre will present the play ‘Beyond the Garb’ while the Lagos State Arts Council will round off the celebration with the command performance of ‘Osusu’ at 5pm.
The Lagos State Ministry of Tourism and Culture, National Theatre, Thespian Family Theatre, Crown Troupe and Lagos NANTAP headed by Makinde Adeniran are partnering the Israel Eboh-led national NANTAP for the celebration.
