THE leadership of National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), has berated members of the National Assembly over what it described as “unruly conduct” during the 2019 budget presentation by President Muhammadu Buhari.
The students have, therefore, urged the Senate President, Bukola Saraki and the Speaker, Federal House of Representatives, Right Honourable Yakubu Dogara to apologise to Nigerians on behalf of the lawmakers for displaying such a puerile attitude to the world.
NANS Public Relations Officer, Comrade Adeyemi Azeez Amoo, in a statement on Friday in Abuja said, “Nigeria students had watched with utmost dismay the pronounced and obvious unruly conducts of the members of the National Assembly during the 2019 budget presentation by President Muhammadu Buhari.
“NANS condemns this in totality, as it has further cheapened the integrity of our country amongst other countries in the world,” he said.

Amoo said Nigerian students, ordinarily assumed that the members of National Assembly should be role models to Nigerian youths and students, with worthy and enviable character.
“Nigerian students wonder if the present occupants of the National Assembly are truly lawmakers or lawbreakers, as their conducts during the budget presentation were nothing but a world show of shame.
“NANS hereby call on individuals or opposition political parties that choose to pretend as if nothing is wrong in the conducts of the members of the National Assembly, during the budget presentation to always place respect to the honour and integrity of our dear country above personal or political interests.
“We hereby call on the leadership of the National Assembly, to as a matter of necessity, apologise to entire Nigerians over the unruly conducts of the assembly,” the statement said.
