NANS advocates constructive engagement to address economic challenges

The President of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Pedro Obi, has appealed to Nigerian students to remain calm and not participate in the planned nationwide protest.

Instead, he advocated constructive engagement and dialogue to address the current economic challenges facing the nation.

Obi acknowledged the hardships faced by many Nigerians and shared in the frustration over the economic situation. However, he emphasised the importance of channelling energy towards positive and productive means, such as dialogue with the government.

The NANS President called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to implement true federalism and restructure Nigeria, citing these measures as essential to addressing the root causes of economic woes and paving the way for sustainable development.

Obi highlighted the benefits of true federalism, including empowering states, fostering healthy competition, and enhancing accountability. He also emphasized the need for restructuring Nigeria to create a more balanced and equitable distribution of resources, reduce corruption, and promote efficiency in governance.

The NANS President reaffirmed the association’s commitment to being part of the solution and working towards a better future for all Nigerians.

He urged students to stand united in their pursuit of a restructured and truly federal Nigeria, emphasizing that together, they can overcome challenges and build a nation that meets the aspirations of all its citizens.
