Participants at the 26th national delegate conference of the National Association of Livestock Husbandry Scientists And Technologists of Nigeria (NALHSATON), held in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, recently.
THE National Association of Livestock Husbandry Scientists And Technologists of Nigeria (NALHSATON), has elected new executive members to lead the association for the next two years.
In an election held during the 26th national delegate conference of the association held in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital recently, Mr Paul Weka, emerged President, Mr Gyang Dangana, was elected Secretary, while Mr Ade Ologiledoye emerged as the Board of Trustee Chairman.
Speaking shorly after the election, the President, Paul Weka, said he will alongside other newly elected executive members formulate policies capable of turning around the fortune of the association.
He noted that:”We are grateful to all the delegates present at this meeting for the confidence reposed in us by giving us their madate to lead them for the next two years. I am also using this opportunity to on behalf of my fellow executive members pledge our commitment to making our dear association a force to reckon with by engaging in series of activities that will portray us as a viable association.”
Chairman of the Local Organising Committee (LOC) for the conference, Mr Adeshola Sanusi, while welcoming delegates and other invited guests to the conference said:”The delegate conference aside electing new leaders of the association was also meant to showcase our professional heritage, applaud our attainment, brainstorm on our challenges and also reconnect with professional colleagues from the 36 states of the federation inclusing the FCT.
“The past one year has been challenging to this nation and the entire globe at large. The incidence of COVID-19 pandemic has grossly affected our socio-economic status nationwide and we vare yet to fully come out of it.”
Commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development in Oyo State, Mr Adeniyi Adebisi, in his welcome address thanked NALHSATON for bringing this year’s annual general meeting to Oyo State.
He informed the gathering that since the inception of the governor of the State, Mr Seyi Makinde, a lot of actions have been taken to improve the State agricultural productivity.
The high point of the conference was the presentation of papers on best production system and mamgement practices in cattle production as a tool for peaceful coexistence and economic recovery presented by Associate Professor, Ruminant and Production and Dairy Science, University of Ibadan, Dr Olusola Adeyanju Olorunnisomo and feed sourcing, management and manipulation as a means to increase poultry farmers income in a hyperinflation economy, by Chief Executive Officer and Principa Partner, Jazkat Integrated Services, Hamkat Global Services, Mr Kayode Taofiq Hamzat.
