Vice President Kashim Shettima has expressed optimism about the performance of Nigeria’s currency, the Naira, saying it will continue to appreciate against the dollar.

He stated this on his official X handle on Saturday, 20th April, 2024.

Highlighting President officialABAT’s strategic decisions to terminate fuel subsidy and streamline the exchange rate, Vice President KashimSM emphasised the necessity to curb the overnight creation of billionaires under the previous system.

Speaking during a courtesy visit by a delegation from the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI), led by President Gabriel Idahosa, at his office in the Presidential Villa, Abuja, the VP acknowledged the challenges ahead.

Expressing his anticipation of further depreciation of the dollar against the Naira, the Vice President remarked, “Naira went haywire and some people were celebrating but inwardly we were laughing at them because we knew that we have the leadership to reverse the trend. Asiwaju knows the game, and truly the naira is gaining and the difference will drop further”.

Senator KashimSM also reminisced about President Tinubu’s governance in Lagos, attributing the state’s remarkable development to his visionary leadership.

He extended gratitude to President officialABAT for laying the groundwork for Lagos’s current prosperity.
