NAFDAC reads riot act to Kogi table water producers

The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) on Tuesday read the riot act to producers of table water in Kogi State over adherence to quality as stipulated by the organisation.

The Kogi state Co-ordinator of NAFDAC, Mr Michael Attah, said this in Lokoja, the state capital during a day seminar organised by the agency for table water producers in the state,

He said failure by the manufacturers to ensure consistency in quality would make them face the wrath of the agency.

According to him, said the regulating body would not condone sharp practices that are inimical to the health of the people in the state.

He explained that the seminar was packaged to sensitise and educate the table water producers on the modern method of treating and handling water in order to adhere to the agency’s specifications as well as avoiding water-borne diseases.

Attah said, “The seminar was organised for table water producers across the 21 local government areas of the state to enable them to know what they should do at all time to meet the minimum requirement of NAFDAC.”

While craving the indulgence of the producers to ensure the product met the requirements of the agency,  the State Coordinator stressed that NAFDAC would not spare any water producer who is not producing below standard.

He commended the leadership of the Association of Table Water Producers of Nigeria (ATWAP) for cooperating with the agency in the area of monitoring.

The state chairman of the association, Alhaji Alimi Oyetoke, said the theme of the seminar “Hygienic condition for the production of table water” was borne out of the desire by the regulating body in ensuring that table water is always of high quality and standard.

He pointed out that the seminar would avail the members of the association the rudiments that would help them in meeting the requirements of the regulating agency.

Oyetoke urged the members of the association to utilise the knowledge gain from the seminar in performing their daily activities of table water production in the factories.
